1. clone present mac running mavericks and backup to time capsule.
2. next day buy new mac with yosemite, can i backup to time capsule also and keep both computers separate? if so then:
3. day after, fresh install snow leopard on first computer, backup to time capsule.

can i set up time capsule so both computers backup separately on their own to their own spaces? if not, any suggestions?

Haven't used time capsule specifically, but for a regular HDD it would be easy enough to just partition the backup drive and backup to the different drives. I think that it works as long as the two hard drives have different names. By default they're both "Macintosh HDD", so give them more distinctive names. Have no personal experience, though.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

I don't fully understand what the question is, but you can have multiple computers backup to any time machine drive, including a time capsule, no problem. You don't partition the drive, each backup just does their own thing, saving more and more backup files. When the drive is full, the time machine software on the mac will delete old backups to make room for new. It works exactly the same with multiple computers as it does with one. You will get a natural "balance" of space based on which computer gets used more, as it will use more space during its hourly backups.

Thank you,
I didn't know if time machine would do it automatically and if the computers would be separate.
