Not really horror but there's "some" gore, mild threat and large amounts of entertainment:

Attack the Block:

well worth the watch. More than once.

I watched "The Hidden" from 1987 last night, been years. Loved it, though much is dated it's still a fun film to watch.

That's a good one.

It's pretty obvious David Lynch saw it and came up with Dale Cooper.

I used to have that on laserdisc, and haven't watched it since. I remember it being pretty good.

Finally saw GotG.

It was good. My expectations were probably too high, and I probably should have seen it in a theatre, both because it would have helped, and that would mean I saw it before Deadpool.

Too much greenscreen, and the CG was... okay.

It reminded me of Chronicles of Riddick in more places than I was expecting.

My notes on GotG.

Micheal Rooker was awesome.
The lead villain was horrible.
Del Toro was a bit of a disappointment.
I was surprised by how good and funny the muscle guy was.
Chris Pratt was best with the mask on.

What made GotG so special was how it blew away expectations, few expected it to be decent, much less good. When it crushed the box office, in every way imaginable, the hype that permeated it took on a life of its own. I still love the film, it's easily one of Marvel's best, but Lawrence of Arabia it ain't.

I want to be fair to it. I really think seeing it after Deadpool puts it under a harsh lens.

On the flipside, I imagine Suicide Squad would have been a rougher ride if I had seen Guardians first.
