Dual 533 Digital Audio
2 * 667 TiPB

Three years ago I was on the cutting edge, but nothing I say today will convince her indoors that there is a reason to upgrade (she doesn't seem to appreciate "it's newer and shinier" as a reason!)

MDD dual 1 Ghz G4. And it's an absolute pile of excrement. THE worst Mac I ever bought. I can't WAIT for the rev3 G5s so I can dump this noisy white elephant.

Of course there's also an 8500 that was being used as a server until recently, & a Pismo PowerBook G3 that is still used regularly.

stock g4/450 cube with 640 megs RAM. Will be upgraded this summer in basically all aspects. Aiming for at least 1.2 gigahertz, 1.7 if I can afford it.

My brother has an old powermac upgraded to a g3/450, I used to have a beige g3 that was upgraded to a g4/733 but it died. I also have an old 1400 powerbook. We've got an SE 30 and a couple of performas as well. I want a clamshell iBook, but they are a bit to slow for how much they cost nowadays. And I am getting a laptop for graduation this summer anyway, so it would be just because the clamshells look cool.

As soon as I can scare up the funds, I'll get more memory and HD space, and maybe a graphics update.

Great Thread.

I use a 733QS purchased in July 01. It has been through several HD and Video Upgrades. It currently has 1.5g of RAM. It still manages to digest the images from my 1DmkII in PSCS.

I have formed a bond with this machine. I am in the final stages of a G5 Tower decision.

I have cleared a space in my basements Mac Hall of Fame. It will be sealed and saved for my grandchldren to see one of the best designed machines in the history of computing.

Of course, this is simply my opinion.

Having just frazzled my Dual 1GHz QuickSilver, I've just replaced it with a . . .

. . . . Dual QuickSilver 1GHz . . .

Unfortunately, my old Radeon 9000 also died, so I'm looking to replace it with something with full CoreImage support - probably a Radeon 9600.

Anyone got a spare one?

I soooo need to figure out a way to reopen this poll. Nobody in the command staff seems to know how to do it.

If you're experienced with VBB and know how to pull it off, please let me know.

G3 Beige Minitower.
More than 5 years old and still very usefull.
Boots in OS8, OS9 and OSX (10.1 up to 10.4.2)
Two 80 GB Harddisks (Barracuda & Maxtor) connected to a Sonnet ATA 66 PCI controller.
768 MB RAM and an OWC G4 ZIF 533 MHz upgrade.
A flashed ATI Radeon 7000 / 64 and a D-Link 10/100 Ethernet PCI card.
Fast enough for word processing and internet.

I also have a G5 Dual 1.8 for heavy work such as video editing.
This mac had 2 GB RAM and 160GB & 200 GB hard disks and an ATI Radeon 9600.

The Pioneer 107 DVD burner of my older Mac is better than the one in my G5.

(and other macs, such as a G3 333 Desktop, and others that I don't use anymore: Performa 600 with a Daystar Turbo upgrade and even an old SE/30)

I also bought and sold these in the past: Performa 400, Centris 650 with PowerMac upgrade, PowerMac 7100/80, PowerMac 8100/80 , PowerMac 8100/100 with a G3 upgrade ,G3 B&W 300, G4 Dual 1.25)

If I would buy a second hand Mac now, it would be a G4 Sawtooth

I didn't get a chance to vote but my sig has the details of my MDD.
Edit: its missing my radeon 7000 and trackball.

My family still uses a beige G3, but they recently upgraded to a 20" imac.
Before that we all used a 7100/66.
AT&T iPhone 5S and 6; 13" MBP; MDD G4.

Couldn't you start a new poll thread and merge these posts into it? If you wanted, you could even change the new poll to match the current poll's results.

Well, well, well...

The last few times I had played with this poll, I had tried editing it to extend its expiration date. Each time receiving the same notification that the date extension I had put in exceeded the maximum number allowed.

Just tried it again and now it's working, so the poll is back open.

I'll let this thread run for a little while longer, probably until the next Power Mac revision is released and then I'll set it free and we'll start a new one from scratch since most of the data will be old by then anyways.

I just bought a used G5 1.8 Rev. A.
It came stock with all of the features mimicking how they were when it was released.
Was $1100 a steal?

No, not a steal. But not a bad price either. The Rev A 1.8GHz is pretty desireable since it has double the RAM slots and a 50% faster bus than the Rev 2 1.8GHz.
