Basically I'm looking for a menu bar iTunes controller. I want to siip forward/backward/pause and have the little 3 second pop up on my screen with info about songs as they start.

Synergy does it, but its eating up my memory, and slowing everything down. Butler's Song info pop up looks better than Synergy's due to the simple shading of the info window.

Butler: well, all I want out of it is the iTunes control, so installing it just for that, seems like overkill for me.

Are there any other freeware or donation ware that will do the trick? I paid for Synergy after a few days of use, and regret it now.

I have the same computer as you and Synergy has been the best itunes controller i have used. I've had it for a year and i've never had any slowdowns and my activity monitor shows no cpu usage when a button isnt being pressed. Try looking at M-beat, Bytecontroller, Menuet, or You Control: iTunes. I'm not sure if they all have popups but there are probably more out there.

thanks for the recommendations nbn22385. I'm not really sure why Synergy has been slowing things down for me. Other than that and my printer "software" nothing else is auto started in the menu, and iCal is auto started. But I've had slowdowns with just normal use (internet/email/word processor).
