That sounds like a challenge. The fact is that in every state where concealed handgun carry is legal, not only are there fewer people carrying illegally, but there is LESS CRIME. The VT incident might have been mitigated or even prevented if VT did not ban firearms on campus. Fat lot of good that did-one whacko took advantage of the fact that his fellow students were guaranteed to be unarmed, and managed to kill a large number of them. ONE person in that bunch being armed, and Mr. "I think I'm in the Matrix" would have been history before he killed anywhere near that many people.

Take home message: IT IS NOT THE LAW ABIDING, ARMED CITIZENS ONE NEEDS TO WORRY ABOUT, BUT RATHER THOSE WHO WOULD IGNORE THE LAW-EVEN TO THE POINT OF MURDER-THAT ARE THE THREAT. (You may have heard this one: "It's the criminals, stupid!" It's true, too.)

ghporter is totally right, the other fact is that in a concealed carry environment, you don't necessarily even need someone to step forward and end the threat. The whacko knew his victims were unarmed at VTech; if he didn't know, or if he thought there might be someone capable of retaliation, he might never have started. He might have been forced out of frustration to deal with his mess of a life in some other way.
