Hi everyone.

I tried silent night and flashed the pram but still the fan comes on at about 50C and only shuts of at about 48C. Is this the only way to get the fan to act like it did a while back, only turning on at 60C.

And silent night doesn't seem to have a webpage at all.
Has anyone else done this?

Well it appears that silent night no longer works.
So well i did things by hand with some help from this webpage.

Only problem was that well I couldn't replace the file i didn't have permision. So i just deleted it then put the old one over it.
Done and done things are working fine, sure i got that initial panic when my computer was sitting at 60C with no fan but it eventually came one .

I remember Colonel Panic. Good man, good man. Had a temper though, and a tendency to break down when he got heated.

My temperature has actually been just around the 49-52C mark.
Hottest I have ever had it was at 66C (playing lots of unreal tournment that day).

I'm pretty sure its safe
Only time will tell... I'm probably cutting the half life of the machine in half, fingers crossed I get 10 years.

Hi,
I've tried "silent Night" too, without success.
The page you refer doesn't exists anymore, can you please explain what you did exactly?
Thanks.

That's true, the link is OK now. It must have been a server problem. Thank you.

huh?

Explain, do you have the latest version?

Side note:
If my cpu sits around 52-58C, can I expect the same life span as if it was sitting around 49-52C?
I shouldn't have decreased the half life by much.

Actually I know this seems wierd but my laptop runs cooler with the fans running less?? I was worried because it would not budge from 45C but it eventually did but it took alot more to heat it up. So nothings wrong then it was just me thanks for the tip on this hack though its beaauuuutiful.
