This happens mostly with graphics files (Photoshop) and InDesign files:

When I double click on a file that is assigned to Photoshop, the correct app will open but without also opening the file. So basically I click on a JPG, Photoshop opens and that's it. I then have to go to File-->Open in Photoshop to open the JPG.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Jason

What about trying to do "Open With > <name of application>". How about dragging the file over the application's icon?

I've tried both of those; neither works.

Do you see the same happening in ALL applications? For example, does a ".doc" open up correctly in Word?

Do those same .JPG's that don't open right in Photoshop open correctly in something else...like Preview?

Most files work like they're supposed to. Photoshop and InDesign appear to be the primary culprits.

Have you tried to re-install those by chance?

i'm going to guess that you installed Photoshop CS, and then did an archive/install at some point, and they haven't worked since then... right? right.

you're just missing some files from Application Support. reinstall Photoshop CS and all *should* be fine.

That sounds plausible. I don't really know the history of the machine - I just started a new job three weeks ago, and took over someone else's computer.

I'll reinstall CS and see what happens.
