Sorry everyone -- I just checked and it's only the pre-fab models that have increased in price.
If you select the single proc. low-end model and simply add the second processor, the price goes back to $1599.
I think all other specs are identical.
Hopefully.

What are you using it for? Why not change the order to a single 1.6 G5?
By the way, the G4s on the website are the old ones without Firewire 800. They are there mainly because they boot into OS 9.

Hehe, that was nice on Apple's part.
They didn't change any prices, only what the default configs are.
Set it back to what it was yesterday and the prices are the same.
You are going to get charged for whatever it was you ordered, at the price listed.

Oh man, I didn't even look at the config...just saw the price. Very sneaky by Apple indeed.

I'm using it to replace my B&W G3/450, which is one of the last B&Ws ever produced. It's served me well over the past three years. And I can get FW800 on a PCI card. And bluetooth means nothing to me, I'm not a gadget dude, I'm not afraid of a few cords.
As to why I didn't go with a G5, well ... the major reason is the fact that it is REV A. First off the line = first to show problems. The engineering is terrific, amazing, fantastic. I'd just rather play it safe and go with the last of the G4s than with the first of the G5s. You know that in a year all of the minor issues will be ironed out and you might get a bit more expansion capabilities. Besides, I will not need G5 speed until the G6s come out. And I'm completely serious here.
Too many people emphasize speed speed speed, and yes -- it does help marketing and sales of the platform. But as I've said time and again, the real marvel is in the OS. If I wanted raw speed, I'd go with a PC and have to deal with the most unintuitive, bloated OS in the world.
....oh, and I managed to find a dual 1.25/combo for under $1450 shipped!

CompUSA has dropped their prices on PowerMacs (although oddly not iMacs) I think I've seen similar prices there. We nearly got a dual 1.25 for ~$1700 but then decided to wait for a dual 2 G5.

I just bought a dual 1.25 with 512MB ram, combo drive, 80gig, and airport extreme for 1600. It is the FW800 MDD. You can't buy a better computer for that much.

Hmmm... You are mistaken. It doesn't have FW800. It's got the MDD, but no FW800.
Remember, these are OS 9 bootable machines, so they came out in 2002. The FW800 version of the MDD came out in 2003 and does not boot into OS 9.
Here are the specs.
EDIT:
Or did you get it from somewhere else (not Apple)?

I noticed that too the other day and it freaked me out. Then I remembered that there was a Processor choice pull down in there. Now I feel better.

MacWarehouse has the dual 1.25 with FW800 for $1399 -- but it's a refurb. Click PowerMac, then click Clearance on the left hand sidebar.
