Just got this in the email today:
http://www2.museumtour.com/sbc.html

SBC has patented the web-page navigation bar, and harassing/extorting small
businesses for licensing fees! Ironically, if you visit the USPTO website
and view the patent, you will notice that the USPTO webpage is violating the
patent that it is displaying!

ahtml/search-bool.html&r=10&f=G&l=50&co1=AND%0A%0A&d=ptxt&s1=5, 933,841&OS=5,
933,841&RS=5,933,841
Go to the Museum Tour site and see what they posted. Apple and about every other site is supposedly violating this patent.

I don't know if this is real, a big deal or what, but it is interesting...

My take on this is a "menu of Links" is obvious and general knowledge, thus invalidating the patent.

Any comments?

Hrm. If it was filed in 1998, I'd think there'd be a lot of prior art invalidating the claim. The government should bill corporations for wasting the time of the patent office.
