It was always my belief that Apple was the first to use a mouse, but the other day I was in a discussion with a buch of winblows nazi's and they kept saying that Xerox did. I usually engage in the large PC vs Mac debate but sometimes when I am not 100% sure on something I just let it go. Was I right to let it go or did Apple really invent it like I thought?

I believe it was that nut who created the idea of a windowed OS, but Im not sure. Could very well have been Xerox.

Xerox PARC (Palo Alto Research Center) invented everything. Laser printers, ethernet, the mouse, the first GUI, list goes on.

Too bad Xerox is not doing so well anymore.

About Apple inventing the GUI, it was my impression that Steve Jobs and the gang walked into Xerox PARC to take a tour, took detailed notes, and Lisa/the Macintosh were born. Hehe.

Actually Apple and Xerox had an agreement. I forget the exact details but apple was able to just take xerox's work.
