Can I do it? the power connection on the back of the zip sucks, and anytime I move the drive, the connection cuts out.. not a good thing for the disks.. Is this a possibility? removing the casing, and installing it in the second drive bay in the front of the machine?

It is possible, but I wouldnt reccomend it.
First you must buy the FireWire cable for the drive. I'm not sure if this supplies the power. Put the drive in the empty bay in your tower and fix it there somehow (glue? be careful). Plug the FireWire cable into the internal port on the motherboard (what mac do you have? only some have the internal port). If the FW cable dosent supply power then remove the L-plate and run the standard zip power supply cable in through a PCI slot. Remove the cover for the small bay and you should see you drive inside. This will work, but it will be ugly.
If you need more specific instruction on how to do this then just say so in another post.

Why would he need a firewire cable if it's a USB drive? I'm not sure how these are, but I know many USB CD-R and Firewire CD-R drives are just IDE ones in IDE bridges. It's possible you could take the drive out of the case and install it like a regular IDE drive but I'm not sure if you can or not.

They do sell internal ATAPI Zip 250 drives, that are inteneded for internal use. I would not try to mod that drive you have. It most likely won't work.
