Psychonauts is now available on the Mac, there is a new Ico/Shadow of the Colossus bundle for the PS3 and Deus Ex finally got a worthy sequel. Since those games are some of the constant entires on "Best games you never played"-lists, it got me thinking: What games from this era - say from the launch of the X360 to now - do you think have been unfairly overlooked? What games deserved a better fate but was drowned in a sea of Call of Duty-sequels?
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Ghost Trick for Nintendo DS. It was praised, but not enough.

It is also available in the Japan Apple Store for iOS devices.

Never tried that - maybe I should. What sort of game is it?

The game I always think of in cases like this Mask of the Betrayer, the first expansion to NWN2. Not because of the gameplay, which is the same as ever, but because the story is great, and you can be deliciously evil. I'm not saying that it's one of the greatest games of all time, but IS a great game, and mostly unknown.

Prey. The game Doom3 should have been.

It plays with the same "infinite hallway" design as the Half-Life 2 games, and it has fixed Portal-style wormholes, and some clever gravity-twisting and spirit-walking stuff. If you like Valve games, you'll like this game.

Gamespot:
Ghost Trick is one of the most original and compelling puzzle-oriented adventure games to come along in recent years. Nearly every facet of the game is outstanding: the unique gameplay concept and the puzzles you solve, the great characters and dialogue, the terrific animation and visual design, and the strange mystery, full of surprising twists and shocking revelations, whose threads all come together in a memorable and rewarding conclusion. The length of the game can vary significantly depending on how long it takes you to work out the puzzles, but you can expect to spend a good 10-15 hours piecing together this mystery, and its novelty and quality ensure that the experience will remain fondly in your memory well after that. If you have any interest in games of this kind, you need to play Ghost Trick.

I know, lame C V. There is little I can add to it. I was told it was the best DS game out there, my 1st reaction was 'over promise, under deliver…', but all on it is mesmerizing, from the jaw dropping animations to the plot line. If you don't mind reading while playing and enjoy Christopher Nolan movies with all those complex twists and turns that don't give you a breather, then Ghost Trick is your game.

Braid is great, but it's hardly under-appreciated. It's won prices from everyone, it has been very well reviewed, and was a sales success at launch.

I don't believe Steam is the arbiter of this era's masterpieces, nor does their front page reflect it.

Several downloadable games have failed to garner the full amount of the attention I feel they deserve, probably due to many people avoiding XBLA/PSN games altogether.

Shadow Complex, Limbo, Trials HD, Braid, Shatter, Super Stardust HD...all great games that were received well by critics, but only appreciated by gamers who paid close enough attention to gaming media, which is the only way many knew they existed at all.

Extra Credits (formerly of The Escapist, but now with Penny Arcade TV) did a few videos on interesting games that were overlooked:
Games You Might Not Have Tried vol 1
Games You Might Not Have Tried vol 2

Not yet, I have been on business trips a lot recently and these days I usually only bring the iPhone. I will remember to pick it up at some point though - it looks interesting.
