I don't know if this is new news, but I just discovered that Maya PLE is available in my iDisk. Finally I can get it!

The whole point of the PLE is to figure out how to use the program, not to produce actual content.

Have you tried to do any work with Maya PLE? That watermark gets in the way..it's huge and obnoxious.

I agree, the watermark is dark and large, getting in the way of trying to see your work. I was very disappointed.

PLE isn't intended to produce work, just to show you how the program works. Even though it is for home/academic use they probably should have called it a demo; that way people wouldn't be expecting the whole program, just a preview of it.

I'm using maya PLE and I'm running through the tutorial but having some problems. It seems like I can't get the MMB and the RMB figured out (middle mouse button and right mouse button). I'm using my G4 powerbook and could use some help. Thanks in advance.

To tell Maya you're using a one-button mouse, you must type "MAYA_MAC_BUTTON_MAP=1" (no quotes) in the Maya.env file located in : /Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/AliasWaveFront/maya/3.5/" (the last directory might be different for you as I'm using the full version)
When it's done, just read the docs from the help menu, there should be a chapter specific to Mac OS X giving the correspondant keystrokes...
Have fun

Ive just downloaded the PLE and discovered the same thing. (
But: Could it be that these letters are just a texture that is applied to the picture?
Perhaps it would be possible to delete this anoying file.
Does anybody know anything? <g>
