I recently switched to OS X and have faced a slew of small problems. Whenever I open a web site coded as a Adobe PDF file, it is always saved to the desktop and it is annoying that I have to delete it off later.

How can I solve this problem? Something regarding the preferences?

Also, downloading video in real media or windows media format does the similar thing. can i get either of those programs or quicktime to pick it up without saving it on the desktop?

sorry, one more thing. when downloading compressed files, my Aladdin UnStuffit (right name? don't recall) doesn't automatically know to open it whereas I never experienced this problem in OS 9.

Thanks for your time, and please give me some advice.

You can tell your browser what to do with files. Go to the browser's Preferences option, and when the Preferences window opens, click on the File Helpers button (that's what it's called in IE, forget what the equivalent is in Netscape or Mozilla or Omniweb). The hard part is finding the kind of file you're having the issue with, but once you do that, click on that option, click the change button, and adjust the bottom part of the window, particularly the "How to Handle" pop up menu.
And that's true too.--Shakespeare, King Lear
