You can get them in a variety of colors.
Some have 4 doors.
They don't defecate (horses do).
You can listen to the radio in one.
A car usually has a trunk.
If you don't have much of a willy, you can still brag about how great your car is.
The tires are made of rubber. Rubber is a really fancy material.
If you ever shyte yourself (or say something stupid) in a car, its doors hide your shame.

I like them for a lot of reasons. I like them because its a form of expression, and you can 'escape' in a car. Traveling by train or airliner isn't the same experience, with a car you're in control of your destiny, you control where you are headed, and how fast you get there. Cars define how our nation looks, and how it works. And some of them are rolling pieces of art. Industrial design at its finest. They have a purpose, but they're beautiful. Some are pure. Others are busy, but slightly good that way. Some are small. Some are big.
But then there are those stupid SUV things. ARgh.

1. A car takes me to school in 30 minutes.
2. Most economical way to get around in this city.
3. I wish it could drive itself.
4. My kids will fly to work and laugh at my car.
5. My car is green. I like green.

2) It gets you from point A - B

But I drive a small car to compensate for my large...

c) guilty conscience of even having to drive while I am fully capable of walking, bicycling, or taking mass transit
d) all of the above

Unless you live in the styx or bumfarked egypt I can't see how a car is the most economical way of getting around. If you live in a major metropolitain area, chances are, there is very ample public transportation available to you. A bus pass here costs like $45.00 a month. If you figure out how much money it costs to own a car, keep it fuelled, keep it insured and keep it maintained here suddenly public transit sounds like a damn good option.
I mean, on the one hand I can't brag about what car I own since I don't own one. On the other hand I have alot more cash in my pocket.
Of course, I have to give credit where credit is due. If it weren't for the invention of the internal combustion engine I wouldn't even have a bus to ride.

In many capitol cities in the country, public transportation is few and far between, and inconvenient.
But then, the people who only live in NYC and LA forget that 'flyover country' is the largest percent of the nation.

Y'all should like them (and buy them) so I can continued getting paid!
I just got a new car that I am in love with. I finally got rid of my old Jeep and got a 5-speed Civic coupe. I feel like speed racer. I've never had an import before so I feel xtra special. Plus now I get all those coupons for service that I design.

Gotta agree with benson here. A GSX-R750, for around $5000 used, will run 10 second quarter miles and is funner than hell to ride.

Yeah, lets give it up for public transportation.
Lets see, I can drive to the west side of madison in 10 minutes, or I can ride the bus for a dollar, and it will take me OVER AN HOUR TO GET TO THE SAME PLACE it took me only 10 minutes to get to in a car.

Gotta agree with Rob on this one (albeit with less sarcasm)
I figure my time is worth over $45 an hour. If I can save an hour or so, then that's worth about $45 to me.
Hence, owning a car is more economical than public transportation.
However, I do car pool. But I do that more for the ability to relax every other day on the hour+ ride to work and for the company to make the commute seem quicker.
Oh, and the closest public transportation to my house is over 20 miles away.

Totally depends on location. I live about 20 miles outside of DC, and work downtown. I drive about once every two weeks on average.
If I am amzingly lucky and hit minimal traffic, it can take me about an hour to get there. If I hit any traffic, it can easily jump up to an hour and a half.
What I usually do is drive about two miles to a partk and ride, hop a bus, take the bus to the metro (subway), ride downtown and walk 4 blocks to work. Aisde from the rare exception, it takes ~50 min without fail.

What about passion and emotion?
I love cars for as long as I remember...always have been surrounded by them (my family traded cars and car-parts....) and they are a big part of my life.
Cars are emotion...expression...some of them at least...
(oh,my daily transportation is a 1982 Corvette btw...with a Apple sticker on the backwindow,2 passions combined.....)
