Hello all,
I've got an external HDD which is dying, so I'm in the process of backing everything up onto several different places, wherever I can find space. What I want to do is format the internal HDD of my old PB, wipe the system, and use as much of the HDD as possible to store files while I send my dying HDD off to get repaired. Is it possible to initiate Target Disk Mode without any OS being installed on my PB? Is this something which is OS specific, or is it built into the fireware?
Thanks.

It's built into the firmware
Boot it up, press and hold T - hook it up to your MBP and it'll look just like an external hard drive so you can format it with disk utility and transfer your files to it.

Gah, how the heck did I type fireware instead of firmware. Stupid mistake. But thanks for your quick reply seanc. Much appreciated.
