Same idea as the other thread in Applications. Post your top 5 iPhone/iPod Touch applications, what they do, and why they are so great!

I'll play.

1. Tweetie - Best Twitter client, in my opinion, and I've tried all the big ones. For now, Tweetie does everything I want in a Twitter app... Trends, deletion, managing of followers/following list, etc. Plus, the developer updates it from time to time. You listening IconFactory? Twitterriffic beats it in the eye-candy department, but nothing else. The long-promised Twitterriffic 2 could instantly be my fav if it adds all the features the other majors have, but keeps its slick look intact.

2. Burning Monkey Casino - Silly game, but with great music, fun replayability (is that a word?) and even a comedian that comes out and tells old-timey jokes if you take too long to hit, stand or double-down. "My sister's been married so many times, she's got rice marks on her back!" That's gold, Jerry, gold!

3. 21 Pro - This is a blackjack sim. It's sick-real looking, with great graphics and is continually improved. I've lost track of the updates, but the developer of this game isn't resting. They're always adding features and making it better. Nothing like daydreaming I'm at a table on the Strip instead of sitting at work, waiting for the phone to ring.

4. AccuFuel - Makes getting a fill-up fun, even though the price at the pumps is a hose. I'm a stats geek and I love seeing my MPG charted over the life of the car. Good looking app... One of my favorite icons and a great GUI.

5. Shazam - My jaw still drops whenever I use this clever app. Whether I'm in a crowded restaurant, a loud casino or just watching TV, Shazam rarely disappoints... Identifying songs after "listening" for a bit and analyzing the sounds. It's pretty amazing.

Honorable Mentions
Now Playing - My favorite of the myriad of iTunes App Store movie times apps.
Weightbot - Weight-tracking app with an incredible interface... Just beautiful.
Arcade Hoops/Arcade Bowl - Fun, addictive, replayable.
Sportacular - Insanely useful.
Calendar - Throwing a bone to the built-in apps, it's the best I've used on a mobile. Better w/MobileMe.
Jalen's dad. Carrie's husband.  partisan. Bleu blanc et rouge.

1. payback - this is the best thing to happen to the iphone... i dont pay for apps... but wow. and wow

2. notes - i need i need i need. use it obsessively and am still absolutely shocked that apple hasn't made these sync yet... lame

3. Qik - this is convenient as can be... have to jailbreak - but i had to unlock... went with the territory

4. BibleReader - I'm a fan of the NET translation and its free... doesn't hold a candle to Pocket E-Sword on windows mobile though... still surprised theres not an amazing

5. Twitterfon - I like the simplicity all the rest of them are unnecessary eye-candy fail

LogMeIn - control my work computer from my iPhone. Not just a gee whiz type of application but allows me to get to my desktop in a pinch, i.e., when I'm not at my home computer to remote in

BibleReader from Olive Tree - offers many translations and is easy to read.

Mail The delivered application but its probably the most used app on my iPhone

Bejeweled 2 - addictive game, helps pass the time when I'm waiting for the train

BatteryLog - one of those single function applications, but it reports and graphs the Battery usage.

OmniFocus. Great compliment for the desktop app.

Shovel - Digg news, which I find to be a fun diversion.

1passwd - By building a browser into the app, I can log into Amex (for example) without having to remember the login/password.

Gas Cubby - For keeping track of all the money I spend on my car.

RogueTouch - Great update to the classic. I hope they do Angband next.

(Shazam should be in there too, but I don't want to break the top 5 rule).

Omnifocus - it's why I got my iPhone and I haven't been disappointed.

Maps - the one Apple app on the iPhone that gets everything right

Analytics app - I only got it this week but it is already an essential addition to my collection. Excellent implementation of Google analytics on the iPhone.

NetNewsWire - by no means perfect but it is my interface with the web 95% of the time. Two annoyances - no landscape view and a bug with feeds that have lots of posts that prevents them from updating correctly (e.g. BBC feed). Oh yes, a third - no way to mark something as unread.

1password - buggy as hell and crashes way too often, but lets me post at forums without having to remember my numerous different passwords.

Weather Pro - the Apple Weather app is good for a summary view, but this gives you the details you sometimes need.

Google Earth - I don't use it often but it is very impressive when I do.

Numerous games - Trism, Sol Free, iDracula, Heroes of Sparta, etc, etc.

Oops, forgot a few:

MobileFiles Pro - the MobileMe app that Apple should have provided themselves. Not perfect but good enough.

Stanza - awesome ebook app.

ACT Printer - lets you send PDFs of any file on your Mac to your iPhone with consummate ease just by "printing" them.

One last one... MyRail lite You can't get it anymore as it was pulled from the store, but if you use the train here in the UK it is invaluable.

My top 5 iPhone Apps (for this week):

1) Trulia (free Real Estate search tool)
2) FreeMemory (allows you to recovery memory from the OS, also has a more accurate battery usage indicator)
3) TrailGuru (GPS trail mapping, uploads to a site which then allows Google map exports of data)
4) FullBrowser (a faster web browser than Safari - very fast, has tabs and multi-view, but still needs some work though)
5) MagicPad (a better note pad than Notes; copy & paste, colors & fonts, but no horizontal mode yet)

And another vote for Stanza! I've been reading the classics on this.
