For what it's worth, The Inquirer has a story about Intel's roadmap for the Pentium through 2005.

Let's just hope that if Apple does in fact adopt the 970, it can scale up *very* quickly.

On a side note: can you imagine the heat-sinks these puppies will require? Whoot!

Holy cow, if true. I can just see the ads now...
"PowerMac desktops with 4 Nehalem-crushing 3Ghz PPC 970s. Purchase at the Apple Store and we'll throw in a pair of Bose noise-cancelling earphones (to drown out the fan(s) noise)."

Considering that Apple makes desktops with the least power intensive processors and loudest fans, it shouldn't be too hard for a competent developer to design a computer with a 970 and a quiet fan.

That's assuming Intel can get to a .065 process. Intel doesn't have any plans as of yet, but AMD already does. That would be my guess as to why IBM chose to buddy with AMD rather than Intel, much better technology.

Soon, you will be able to use the Pentium5 chip as the core of your central heating unit.

Is there a CPU compressor, you know one that uses Freon for cooling, like a fridge?

From what I've seen, the 970 doesn't scale very well. Seeing as that LATE this year, it is supposed to debut at 1.8 Ghz. That doesn't seem like a good sign to me.
