Hope someone can help, I'm trying to resolve a name to a IP address this works fine in OS X but when I try this in the classic environment it fails.

Just so you know what I have done I have edited the /etc/host file with this entry 123.com resolved to 192.168.1.100 you can ping this fine in the terminal.

Then I created a text file called Hosts which I placed in the preference folder in the ~/Library/Classic/preferences.

The file reads 123.com A 192.168.1.100

When you use MACPING it does not work

Any ideas folks??

Under 10.3.3 you cant add the file in the TCP/IP Control Panel so you have to drag it into the preferences folder for it to work.

I have a OS X only boot mac.
