Ok, so i'm trying to export an picture that i've developed in photoshop so I can use it as an icon. I have no idea how to do this. I have tried saving the file as png, jpeg, etc. but every time it adds a white background. This is very annoying seeing that the image is a circle. I'm sure there is an easy way to do this that i've overlooked. Thanks in advance.

save as a png with transparency, and then put it through pic2icon.

The other option is to use a PS plugin for icons
