I just got a Roomba for my wife for our anniversary and we're trying to think of a good name. Rosie from the Jetsons seems a bit cliche. I thought about that little droid that precedes Darth Vader onto Leia's ship in Episode IV because it kind of looks like that. Anyone know what that droid was called?
Any other ideas?

You bought your wife a vacuum cleaner for your anniversay. Seriously?
I mean, as far as vacuum cleaners go, I guess it's kinda cool. But...a vacuum cleaner?

I'm pretty sure if I bought my wife a vacuum for our anniversary, I'd be invited to sleep on the couch with it.

I say Hugo.
As in, "hu go, girl."
And because it's a nice name for an automated menial.

I named our Roomba "Rover." We pasted two googly eyes on it and it looked great!

Being in debt and celebrating a lower deficit is like being on a diet and celebrating the fact you gained two pounds this week instead of five.

I don't give things names. My Roomba is called Roomba. My Scooba, you guessed it, is called Scooba. My wife, you guessed it, is called wifee.

Isn't the word "robot" being a little too generously applied here?

She is actually the perfect wife as she doesn't really like jewelry and thinks it is sad when flowers die. Plus, we're spending next weekend at a nice resort.
And the Roomba is really the ANTI-vacuum cleaner because it means WE don't have to do it. She's been wanting one for a while, but I've been resistant because I've heard mixed reviews. The new fifth generation models seem to work great, however, so I surprised her. It's also nice since our daughter is just starting to crawl and this ensures that the floor is always clean of bits of paper and string, etc.
Sek929: Nice find on the MSE-6 droid. You are either a hard core fan or spent a fair bit of time looking for that.

Not really. The word robot basically describes a device which does it's task autonomously, and probably interacts with the world. We might expand the definition to state that it has to do things in the physical world to eliminate computers from the group, but even then, a robot is really just a computer with some sort of sensor.
The roomba is a true robot.
As a side note, we never named ours. It's just the Roomba.

I'm a fan, but no way in hell would I know the name of that thing off the top of my head.
I was also curious as to it's name so i decided to sleuth a little. I had no idea how many different droids were in those movies....

Yes, that's why I refrained from calling it anything like a turtle. They suck, too. At vacuuming, that is
