I do it all the time as well.
But I'm not talking about 40 MPH around the cones bullsh*t
I'm talking about real 20 MPH - 150 MPH+ roadcourses with hairpins, esses and straightaways that require skill and a real car, ala 911 Turbo, Corvette, Ferrari F50, etc.
Those poor Japanese basturds can't keep up
Enjoy! Racing Elise vs. Street Corvette at Nurburgring (Warning... it's a full lap, i.e. LONG!)

Hey Brit Ben, I am in total shock. Aston Martin is my second favorite car in the world. I am kinda sold on BMW, but that Vanquish is beyond bad. That is bad with a capital B. I actually can't believe that someone actually has one of those. That is major drool factor!

Why, yes, you did! The Clubsport is a kick-ass car. Probably because it uses the american - made LS1 engine, same as my T/A. Which means... we're brothers! Low revving high torque push-rod V8 muscle, baby.

Is there anything better than a FORD?! I think not! Buy American all the way baby!!! :-)
1996 Ford Mustang COBRA
1995 Ford Explorer (Family mobile)
The perfect mix, Cobra for speed, and Explorer for versatility!
Now hopefully Apple can shoehorn some HORSEPOWER into OSX!

hmmmmm... makes me think that Fuffy and i are the only ones who know how good it feels to have a V8 low reving beast.. with twin 4inch exhausts and a turbo charged intercooled 300kW engine. and boy does she sound like thunder when she revvs wakes up the neighbourhood.
oh and for those with extractors on an turbo charged car i reccomend getting blow-off valves... makes a nice "chhhh" sound when you change gears and adds bout 10BHP.

Hey, my good ole American Mustang has plenty of low end power out of the 4.6 litre, 32 valve, DOHC, naturally aspirated V8. 305hp and tons of low end torque make for plenty of rumble and all kinds of tire spinning, rubber burning, head turning fun!
And it's made in America to boot!!!

There are still a few of us around. I only wish Americans were as descriminating as Aussies seem to be. The Clubsport R8 is definately a damn sexy automobile... of course I prefer something with a little more attitude.
There have been many petitions presented to GM to bring the Holden cars to the States, but so far GM seems to be ignoring us . Americans have traded in their V8s for POS four bangers. Oh how the mighty have fallen!

1995 Geo Metro!!!!!!! and I can fill the tank for less than $10 ;-)
DP450, Wallstreet 300, iMac 400 slot loading and airport BS.
Thats right, I have more money in my computers than my car ;-)
Let's see how many people in this thread that have complained about the $20 fee for 10.1 will continue to complain after exposing their largesse in automobiles.

OK, Kelix, we know you love your car. Oh, yes, and beating 'yanks' in it. (sudden bizarre mental image <shakes head violently> ) Anyway, I've done some hotrodding and a lot of research vis a vis my Shelby Charger GLHS and I just have to correct you on one tiny thing: Blow off valves don't add 10hp or 100hp or 1hp, they add 0hp. Here's how it works:
You're at full throttle. Your turbo is spinning fast. The exhaust gasses are spinning the exhaust turbine fast and on the other end of that same shaft the compressor wheel is cramming massive amounts of air through the throttle body. Time for the next gear you lift your foot off the floor, the throttle plate slams closed. Now you've still got the compressor blowing at full tilt but the door has been slammed shut and there's nowhere for the preasure to go. As preasure between the closed throttle and compressor rapidly spikes to very high levels a shock wave bounces back from the closed throttle and slams into the fins of the compressor stopping it extremely quickly and putting massive preassure on the turbo shaft bearings and compressor wheel itself. Now you are in the next gear and slam open the throttle again. All your boost is gone because the compressor ran into a brick wall and has all but stopped so you get to build it up again from scratch.
This is what a blowoff valve does. It opens to relieve this preasure spike when the throttle snaps closed. Saves wear and tear on your turbo and helps keep it spinning so you've still got a spinning turbo when you get to the next gear. Undoubtedly it makes the car accelerate quicker as described above but it's impossible for this mod to change the horsepower of your engine.
Hope that clears things up.

Indigo iBook from 2000 (I think, time flies).
And my real treasure is my '98 Honda Civic EX, silver in color. Notice I have no pictures of this "classic". I'd just as soon take a pic of the wrong silver Civic of the umpteen in my office parking lot right now.

This is a very silly thread, and quickly getting right out of control. A bit like some of the cars :-)
I'm not sure if I've won the prize for oldest beast, but my details are:
Mac:
500MHz Ti PowerBook, 512MB
Car:
1957 FE Holden (Australian, same make as kelix's car, but just a couple of years older)
The license-plate says FECOOL, which is pronounced Eff Ee Cool when I'm cruisin' and pronounced Faecal when I've got my head under the bonnet fixing it
