Acer has debuted its first ultrabooks powered by Intel's fourth-generation Core series processors. The Taiwanese notebook maker has also taken the opportunity to redesign the Aspire S7 based on user feedback, while also using its new styling cues in the new Aspire S3. Both notebooks also share Acer's dual-torque hinge that allows users to open the lid to 180-degrees for sharing content, but eliminating wobble at the same time.

The redesigned flagship S7 ultrabook gets a 33 percent improvement in battery life, taking it out to 7 hours, thanks to the power saving traits of the new Intel Haswell architecture. It also incorporates a high resolution 2,560x1,440 (WQHD) IPS display, that is only just shy of the 2560x1600 resolution on Apple's vaunted MacBook Pro with 13.3-inch IPS Retina display. Helping to round out a comprehensive package, the S7 includes an electroluminescent backlit keyboard, WiDi, new quieter fan tech, as well as Gorilla Glass protecting the LCD panel. It is also weighs in at just under 3 pounds.

The S3 is aimed at users who want the power of discrete graphics, while retaining some of the stylistic touches of the S7. Although also 13.3-inches, it weighs considerably heavier than the S7 at around 3.5 pounds, but that brings with it the option to include Nvidia's new GeForce GT 735M. The display has uses IPS tech, but is limited to a more traditional 1080p, full HD resolution. It also includes WiDi and ships with hybrid storage up to 1TB.

Both ultrabooks will ship in July with prices varying by region.
