Have you reinstalled Flash?

Flash is not specific to Leopard.

Which version of the Flash plug-in are you running? You can check by going to Help->Installed Plug-Ins in Safari.

I don't think we actually use Flash for any part of the forums. And Flash should NOT crash your browser in any case. I'd at least upgrade to the latest version of the plug in. Also, see if the same page crashes other browsers, which could tell you quite a lot about what's going on.

You know you get your revenues from advertising, don't you?

Of course it shouldn't. But it does at times. Plugins don't run as a separate process.

I have a plugin running in Firefox called "Flashblock", so I usually don't get bothered by annoying Flash ads-and I forgot about how common they are. There are a BUNCH of Flash parts of the main MacNN page, and I'm not sure how many of them are ads.

I was also less than complete in my earlier post. I should have said that reinstalling Flash should help because it should also reinstall the plug in, and that by itself the Flash player shouldn't crash anything. I got distracted while I was posting.

How does one reinstall Flash? For me, whenever Safari crashes, it always seems to be on MacNN.

Oh, and glenn:

It seems to me that as an administrator, it might be worthwhile (read: imperative) to disable ad- and Flash-blockers, to get an idea of the experience your users are being subjected to on your site.

Fear not-I'm probably the only one on staff that uses this particular tool. And of course the Feedback forum is a great place to report what sort of mischief our advertisers are perpetrating on users, in case none of the staff happens to see it (or have the random idiocy pop up for them). But you're right-I should turn it off from time to time just to see how bad things get. It's like wearing noise canceling headphones-I get used to the quiet, but I still need to be aware of the background noise.
