Simply put, whenever I try to quit Word or any other Office X apps, the window disappears but the menubar remains and the app does not quit. I have to force quit to exit the program.

I have repaired permissions, uninstalled and reinstalled the apps, you name it.

I have seen posting indicating a possible problem with Norton's Personal Firewall being set to Stealth causing this problem, but I am not running any Norton products.

Please help!

Thanks. . .

Don

Trash the "Microsoft" folder from:

Macintosh HD/Users/User_Name/Library/Preferences/Microsoft

Help at all?

it is not just norton firewall....just about any firewall can cause this to happen. try just leaving it for a bit and see if it eventually quits on its own when it gives up trying to "phone home" (i am talking just a few minutes, not hours or anything like that.....)

Mr. Blur got it right. . .

I am running Intego's NetBarrier, and found if I reset it to "Client, local server" as opposed to just "Client" the Microsoft apps quit just like they're supposed to!

Thanks again.
