Okay, the time has come, payments have been received for the old computers sold on e-bay, and I have to make choice. Originally I didn't consider the 20" because of the price, but Apple keeps teasing me with a refurb for $1299.
My issues:
Probably can't afford the RAM upgrade if I buy the 20" but it comes with a gig (minimum I understand) and a larger HD.
If I buy the 17" I can afford the RAM, but lose the HD space (and my wife will probably be happier with me here too).
This computer is for my son who will be going off to college in a little over a year, he loves making movies and being creative, so I think the extra screen space will be a plus for him. We are planning to connect an external flat screen monitor too, which could offset the landscape issue.
Can you weigh in on how you would make your buying choice?

20". My rev A G5 has one gig and works great. The new intels blow it away. You won't be disappointed and can upgrade RAM cheaply at any time through a third party. Visit ramseeker and look for RAM when you need it.
Enjoy.

Thanks! I just ordered the 20" iMac with the 2.16 GHz, 250 GB, 1 GB configuration for $1299. Best "deal" I could find, thanks for the input!

I just got my (wife's) refurb 17" 2GHz today. The 17" is great so you will definitely be happy with the 20".

The 20" is great. But the screen got too small, so I'm switching it for a 24"
