More of a “thinking out loud” exercise but anyone thinking Apple will start making OS (and possibly app) updates mandatory in the next year or two? Windows 10, game consoles and most IoT devices are already doing it, and they’ve made in increasingly harder/naggier to avoid them in recent years.

Apple has a long-standing practice of supporting the two previous macOS versions with security updates. If they planned mandatory OS updates, they would first stop supporting older versions.

Ironically, it wouldn’t bug me nearly as much as it does with iOS.
Major MacOS updates don’t gimp my hardware like major iOS updates do.

I can't figure out how to turn off update notifications for my iWork apps for Mac. I keep on getting bugged by them when I launch the app (not the macOS notification which is off). There used to be a right click on the App Store where I can click "ignore updates" but I dont see it anymore.

I would love to stop getting nagged to update to High Sierra every single day. <click remind me tomorrow, since there's no other option>

andi, you can disable that nag dialog by moving a system file. No need to endure the torture.

Pages on iOS does this, and then when you DO update it marks all the new features with an obnoxious bounce animation that can only be dismissed by clicking each button/icon individually. It’s very un-Apple like.
