I was excited to receive my new MBP today

I plugged it in and started it all up. About 2 minutes later, I heard a pop and looked at the MBP and noticed the screen went dark as if in battery mode. Sure enough, I smelled the 85W magsafe power adapter and it was smoking.

I guess I will have to wait for a week to get another one in the mail since the resellers around me are too small to keep an adapter in stock.

Does anybody else have problems with the power plugs?

I have had some minor problems with the magsafe connector, but this is common and minor. Are you sure that the adapter is the only problem?

I hope it is. The MBP works fine on battery. I tried different wallplug in my house, so it seems to be the converter. Did you have anything else in mind that I could of missed?

Maybe you should ground it...

GET IT!?! GROUND it. Ground it--like ground as in punish it for smoking cigarettes, but it could also mean ground electrically. You said your MBP was smoking, so I said "ground it!"

Whooo! I crack me up!

Sorry--I know, pretty damn stupid, but I couldn't help it...I'll go away now
