..but it's not. I thought they were making fun of Apple's how-to kind of videos.

As someone who has spent most of my professional life doing PC training to individuals, you'd be amazed how many people need little things like this explained, in detail, to them.
What, me worry?

Don't see what's funny, either. It's a nice feature, and something the average user would usually have to have pointed-out to them, especially given the place Google has put the "restore" links.

That guy has one of the worst haircuts I have seen in a training video ever.

Let me clarify. I have nothing against "how-to" videos, I just think Google probably has enough money to hire a more professional actor. Not someone who acts like they have a stick shoved up their ass, has never seen a video camera before and had their haircut was done by a two year old. I'm judging(or making fun of however you want to look at it) the production quality not the content.

I would imagine that google wants to keep it's "underdog" and simplistic image, having an average guy, much like a co-worker or the like explain something would probably feel a lot more comfortable the steve balmer dancing on stage...

apple has the slick seamless videos, microsoft has the communist stoic feel to it, and google has the kind friend/co-worker feel...

The subject video is about a billion times better than some computer tutorial videos I've seen. The guy doesn't talk down to the audience, and doesn't sound like he's a moron, either. It's informational and accessible, not dumb or insulting. And I think using an actual developer to do the on-screen talking is a good idea because nobody believes actors when they say things like "we decided..." because actors in these pieces are OBVIOUSLY actors.

I didn't know that Chrome was so.. window-ish. Ugly as hell. And the part about "we don't want to interrupt the user"? Firefox already gives me the option if I want to be 'interrupted' or not should I accidentally close my multi-tabbed window.

This was my first exposure to Google Chrome and most likely my last.

All IMO.

He worked in a "bam!" too. He's like Emeril. But with browsers.
