Of course! I mean, there's an entire article about the link between atheism and suicide! Apparently even though I currently live a happy and fulfilling life, I'm supposed to go kill myself. I better warn my manager that I'm going to miss this afternoon's meeting because I'll be dead.

Any ramblings are entirely my own, and do not represent those of my employers, coworkers, friends, or species

Ooh, here's my favorite quote so far, from the article on homophobia:

While the term phobia is an irrational fear of something, yet nobody is afraid of homosexuals, and nobody fears contracting homosexuality.
Fail grammar, improper blanket statements, and arguing semantics in lieu of arguing the actual topic at hand. Basically a perfect summary of the entire Conservapedia!

(Disclaimer: this is an attack on the website Conservapedia.com, and not on conservatives or conservativism.)

This thread should go no where.

I'm sure it will go nowhere, but I'm still gonna drop my favorite quotes in here anyway.

Barack Hussein Obama II (birth name Barry Soetoro,[1][2][3] allegedly born in Honolulu August 4, 1961[4][5][6][7][8]) is the 44th President of the United States, and the first President who is biracial.
Barry Soetoro? The references it gives for this being his name are:
- an article that tells the story of when he stopped going by his nickname "Barry",
- a poorly-translated Russian website that uses the name without any citation, and
- a school register filled out by his stepfather, Lolo Soetoro, in Indonesia.

Oh, and his birth certificate (which is linked therein) says Barack Hussein Obama II.

EDIT: An article about Obama? I'll eat my hat if he doesn't show up. Actually I don't really have any hats, but I will go to a store, buy a hat, and then eat it.

Any ramblings are entirely my own, and do not represent those of my employers, coworkers, friends, or species

Theo: I just get a kick out of this site for the logical disconnect of what it is trying to accomplish. Basically "the Wikipedia is full of liberal bias, therefore we will compensate by instead of building a better Wikipedia, building a completely and unabashed all-things-staunch-Conservative 'encyclopedia' filled with the same bias that we criticize the Wikipedia for having that is way, way, way overcompensated to the right.

Garbage in Gospel out? NOT. The Libs are soooo worried about what a true conservative might be up to. They don't even have a handle on what a conservative is.

As a follow-up, have any of you been tempted to make "corrections" to pages (or the Wikipedia, for that matter)? I think the Conservapedia needs a page all about besson3c.

Heheh... You gotta love the intro paragraph:

A liberal (also leftist) is someone who rejects logical and biblical standards, often for self-centered reasons. There are no coherent liberal standards; often a liberal is merely someone who craves attention, and who uses many words to say nothing.[1] Liberalism began as a movement for individual liberties, but today is increasingly statist and, as in Europe, socialistic.
This site is a parody of something...

Certainly wikipedia should slap a lawyer on them for stealing their css layout.

The page on gender differences is amusing. I like how the generalizations are all extreme hyperbole. But then, I like hyperbole.

It appears to be serious.

Conservapedia was created in November 2006 by Andrew Schlafly.[9] He felt the need to start the project after reading a student's assignment written using Common Era dating notation rather than the Anno Domini system that he preferred. Although he was "an early Wikipedia enthusiast", as reported by Shawn Zeller of Congressional Quarterly, Schlafly became concerned about bias after Wikipedia editors repeatedly reverted his edits to the article about the 2005 Kansas evolution hearings.[10] Schlafly expressed hope that Conservapedia would become a general resource for American educators and a counterpoint to the liberal bias that he perceived in Wikipedia.[11][12][13]

If [email protected]$h is so convinced that Conservapedia is a parody, does that mean that he believes that each of its articles and the views that they represent are facetious and should be mocked?

Are you assuming we should accept whatever BS is in Conservapedia? Isn't this the same reason Wiki is not so highly respected - Content is questionable. You can show all the links you want to show WHO created it. You can't show its level or reliability.

That is a completely different argument than the one you were making. So do you admit Conservapedia is not a parody?

Once again, that's not what you were saying before. The mainstream site is not parody, ignoring whatever opinion you may have about its content.

Sure the mainstream media is parody! Just watch Maddow or Matthews blathering about. No facts there. Opinions and spin as news. It is sad that those in the MSM don't see themselves as the fools they are. Sure, Conservapedia may not realize they are also parody, but it still is. You libs sure do worry about what the rest thinks. Got any more labels or other typical left wing BS you wanna try?

So, the MSM is parody, wikipedia is parody, and Conservapedia is parody. Is there any source of info left that isn't parody? How is that determined?

You're right, we'd be much better if we were close-minded and didn't give a **** about other people's thoughts and opinions. That's the way to go through life!

Call it a sneaking suspicion, but I think you care what we in this thread think, or you wouldn't be spinning the hell out of what you meant by parody for the last few posts.

I seem to recall you as the person introducing the parody label into the discussion.

---

BTW, it's clear from your statements in the early going that you thought Conservapedia was a parody in the vein of The Onion and Colbert. But its fun to watch you spin like a leftist rather than admit your mistake like a real man.

Are you gonna discuss content? That would be where the parody was? Perhaps your zeal to make personal attacks has blinded you to the subject? Wouldn't humor and parody be in the mind of the reader?

I'm discussing your original statement that the content site was parody. It's rather difficult since you keep changing your argument.

In BadKosh's defense, many of the actual articles on the site probably still are parodies, written by leftist infiltrators, even while the overall site itself isn't. Schlafly and crew probably didn't succeed in identifying every last one back when they stopped allowing the unwashed masses to make edits. So it's not that surprising someone would confuse the whole site for satire.

If that's the case he's done a poor job of defending his point by doing something as simple as posting an example of just that.

Still, I don't think that's case, as there has been a marked change in his tone and argument since I posted the information about the creator and his goal for the site.

I didn't say he's right, just that his wrongness is an easy mistake to make. It still doesn't explain why he refuses to admit he made an honest mistake.

You still don't or can't get it??? Are you saying that all I have to do is find and repost the links to the parodies I find and you will STFU???

This still smells like an attempt to categorize what you think a conservative is, and what they believe AS IF we all thought alike, or followed White House talking points like the lefties in the news etc.

Do you realize how thick in irony this is? You rant and rave practically daily here about what you think a liberal is, as if we all thought alike. You even generalize about "lefties" right here in this very paragraph...

Logical disconnect?
