Have just a search for this couldn't find a resolution. Before I went down the extension conflict route thought I'd run it by you. Choosing sleep from finder menu causes freeze, requiring manual reboot. (cursor moves) Choosing sleep frm power button is same. System will fall asleep on own no probs. OS9.1/G4
Thx

Do you have any add-on PCI cards in your machine? It seems quite a few cards are incompatible with sleep. My Midiman Delta 44 sound card won't let my tower sleep. It used to lock the machine up when I tried, but the newer drivers work better-- (their mac drivers are still officially beta) now the OS just tells me that I have hardware installed that won't allow sleep.

Right, here's what I THINK it was - Faxstf 5.1. When it was set to answer on however many rings in the preferences, it caused a freeze when I selected sleep from the finder.
