I've finished Game of Thrones. I've finished VEEP. I started Breaking Bad on netflix, and it got to be a bummer. Similarly, not sure I could get into Dexter.

What other shows should I seek out before Verizon comes to their senses and takes away my free HBO?

I enjoyed that comedy show with Jack Black and Tim Robbins. I forgot the name.
Dead Like Me.
I never saw Boardwalk Empire but I hear good things.
Most people would say The Wire.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

The Wire is excellent if you give it some time to develop, the first episodes aren't very good. Other than that, I don't know which channels things are on in the US.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

I watched the first season of the Wire. I seem to have trouble with realistic tv shows that make me lose faith in humanity.

Finish it if you can. It's one of the best TV shows ever! Boardwalk Empire is good. Rome was really nice and only two seasons. And of course there's always True Blood.

Yes, Luther is great.

But inconceivable for Americans: a detective without a gun. Shocking.

Seconding all of the Netflix things said, plus Daredevil, but I thought it was an HBO thread?

I think Luck got great reviews, but I never saw it.

Did someone recommend Dead Like Me?

Only two seasons so you'll power through it then spend the next few years with a tiny sense of melancholy that they didn't make more.

A lovely show.
This space for Hire! Reasonable rates. Reach an audience of literally dozens!

I loved Dead Like Me.

I think I watched all of True Blood... I'll check, maybe I missed the final season.

Netflix has gifted me with more Longmire, and new Luke Cage happening soon... and Stranger Things has a lot of press. Enough to convince me not to put netflix on hiatus again. Clever Netflix!

HBO: Westworld looks to be good.

If you're a fan of the show Seinfeld then Curb Your Enthusiasm is a must watch.

Hells, yes. DLM was great for most of its run. It got a little uneven toward the end, but it's still worth the watch.
It's not HBO, but if you have Hulu, I highly recommend bingeing You're the Worst.

I watched one episode of Westworld, couldn't get into it.

Stranger things took a while, but was very good.

Luke Cage, also very good, but also massive bummer.

Free HBO is over, and I think Netflix is finally going to have its hiatus!

I love You're The Worst. Genuinely something a bit different as well as deeply hilarious.

Westworld is a slower burner than its budget and hype and cast suggest. I suspect it still hasn't got going but I'm two episodes behind.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Better Things on FX is well worth giving a look at. It's a short first season, but it really delivers. Louis C.K. is co-producer.

Give it time. I would NEVER have watched it just from the premise. It can be a little slow, but so is real life sometimes. Its Mr. Chips becomes Scarface. Watching the wake of deaths and such caused by Walter White gets to be amazing. Watching how he deals with his cancer/insurance was actually fairly accurate. Get through the 1st 3 seasons and you will be hooked. Season 4 is really good and Season 5 was the BEST TV I have seen. They tied up all but one* loose end by the end of the series.

* Huel still waiting for that all clear from Gomez so he can leave the safe house.

Yeah, it was only ten episodes. The first ep was a little shaky, but the show just kept getting stronger as it went, and ended the season with a walk-off homerun of an episode. It's been renewed for a second season.
