like many, I have fallen in love with the new Powerbooks. This month I will be forgoing as much food as possible so I can afford to purchase the lovely 12" model next month.

Currently I own an iBook 600 and have built up a fair amount of software and necessary files that I will want to have on my new computer.

Short of burning everything to cd-rs, how can I transfer my files? Can I just plug an ethernet cable in between them and hope everything works by magic?

cheers

You should be able to simply start one of the machines up in "Firewire Target Disk Mode" (hold down T during startup). This computer will then just display a Firewire logo on screen, and when you connect it to the other computer with a regular firewire cable, it will show up just like an external hard drive.

Copy at will.

thanks a million - that is possibly the most awesome thing I have ever heard.

I can now also add another notch to my "why macs kick arse" wall.
