I have a 700MB .avi movie file that is encoded in Divx (video) and mp3 (audio).

When I play it in OS 9 it opens up in QuickTime Player and plays fine w/ both video and audio.

In OS X it opens in Quicktime Player but only the video comes though, and discards the audio track. Opening the movie properties window shows the file size as 615MB so it has discarded the 85MB audio track.

Why is this happening?

Try opening it in OS9 and exporting it as a .mov file. That's what I did with a few movies that I had the same problem with and now they are 'OSX ready'.

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.
