Nothing listed there works.

They list two:
SanDisk:
Neither of their products are supported with OS X. And the one I have may NEVER be. I'm not holding my breath for the other one.

SmartDisk:
Their web-page says supported on OS 9 only.

So ... that's why I posted this message here.

I believe Apple added drivers for most of the standard USB and PCI card mass storage devices to OS X 10.1. Just because the manufacturer says it isn't supported doesn't mean it won't work. I've heard people saying that the two SanDisk ones work for them under OS X.

Ok - My NewMedia PC card (in my Pismo) only works for Smart Media cards of 8 and 16 meg. It doesn't see the 64's or 128's. Bummer. The other reader I have - (SIIG) isn't seen at all by ANYTHING.

I plugged it in and absolutely nothing happened.
(That's why I figure it doesn't work.)

I do know that the SanDisk ones work for CF. I don't know of anyone that's gotten them to work under OS X (except in classic.)

What reader are you using?
I generally stick to 8 and 16MB cards.

I briefly had a PNY SmartMedia reader that worked fine with X (I returned it because I switched to a camera that uses CompactFlash).

It was very inexpensive ($25 at Best Buy), but felt cheap too.

i've tried the zio os x drivers. i think they were released in december. there is no indication that the system even notices the reader. no new volumes listed in the finder, image capture can't see it and neither can iphoto. the drivers don't even come with a readme or any kind of documentation.

I waited 8 months for them to get the Zio drivers then finally gave up and bought a San Disk Imagemate SDDR31 CF reader. Works great in classic/os x with native drivers. Nothing to install. $23 at BestBuy. They also have a SM reader also - but I can not verify that it also works.
