Hi, I have a g4 powerbook (alum 15" 1.33ghz). And I was wondering how much a boost I would see in performance if I got the middle-ground iMac (17" 2ghz g5)??

The alternative is to just bump up my RAM from 768mb to 1.5gb and save the extra $1k for now, because I don't really need a new computer (they are just sweet).

Thx!
-Mike

Unless you have specific needs that would require a G5, get more ram and see what the Mactel offerings will be next year.

I'd say the 2GHz iMac would be quite a bit faster.

faster CPU
faster system Bus
faster hard drive

You give up the portability though...
