I recently got an Xbox 360 and I read somewhere that it is capable of playing divx and xvid files. Has anyone done this before? I created a dixv disc in Toast but the Xbox didn't recognize the disc.

Far as I can tell it recognizes divx .avis, but not .divx files.

Yeah I have .avi files.
I am wondering if what I selected in Toast is the right option. Does it need to be a divx disc? Does it need to be a windows cd with a divx file on it? We are dealing with MS here, so it's not as simple as it should be...

I can't help you there, as I stream them from my iMac.

No, you don't want a "divx disk." You want the avi files on a "regular" data DVD. Nothing special/proprietary/funky like AppleTV requires.

Thanks mduell. Ill give it a try. I burned an actual DVD (mpeg2) and it plays, but it looks pretty compressed. I will try a data DVD and see how it looks.

Does it have to be a data DVD? Can it be a CD? The divx file is 700mb, so it will fit on a cd-r.

Aye, occasionally the 360 can't find it and I have sop and start it, but that's about it.
And you and I have completely different systems too. (G4 vs. intel iMac)

Ya same here. No other problems even from 1.0.

I heard that the Game Genie emulator is only available in the Leopard version of Connect360.

That was a commentary on the ability of Connect360 to run on completely different systems without problems.
The only reason I have that iMac is my PowerBook took a major dump 2 1/2 years ago.
Of course, I miss a laptop so I might get myself a refurb MacBook one of these days.

The 360 won't play video files from disk or USB, the only way to play video files is to stream or to convert to DVD. U should give the newest version of Connect360 a shot.
