My new macbook can't hold onto a wireless connection. I show connected at all times but internet dependant apps such as AIM and youtube consistently drop connection and bandwidth.
Is this a problem with the new nvidia wireless card and OS X, or is this specific to my new notebook? Should I expect a fix or return it before my 14 day runs out?

Maybe your Wireless router is too far away from your Macbook.
If so, every now and then the signal will be stronger or weaker and might break.
Try moving your Macbook very close to the router just to check if it works when you are close. If the problem continues I suggest you take it to the store to get fixed, or if you do not have a lot of stuff installed already perhaps try to return it and get a new one.
Good luck with your Mac.

This could be related to local interference more than a problem with the MacBook. Do you have this problem on all wifi networks at multiple locations or just your home wifi network? If just at home, what sort of networking equipment do you have -- Linksys, Apple Airport Extreme, etc.?

all networks in multiple locations....i sat 5 feet away from my router and it still had problems....plugging into a cat wire made internet how it should be. My black macbook gets strong signal everywhere....its intermittent but most likely repeatable on the apple store's networks.
its been tried on linksys, netgear, and a large university network.
its plugged in all the time except on the university's networks.

There's a relatively new Airport update that addresses reliability. Have you updated to that and any other items in Software Update?
I'd do that first. If it doesn't help, create a new network location and switch to it. Sometimes creating a new location has been known to help -- but try the software updates first.

I'd like to point out the obvious... A metal laptop will never, ever, match the reception ability of a plastic laptop. Even with the "windows" that they give, you'll never get the same strength you could with a non-metal case.
