Hey,

New Mac user here, so forgive my question: I just want to know, why do Mac users stick with Steam as opposed to going to D2D, GamersGate or Gametreeonline which actually offer Mac games?

Thanks.

I'm not sure that Mac users necessarily "stick with Steam," but probably because it's easy to boot into Windows and have a full-speed gaming experience, on demand. That, and Steam has some good promotions sometimes for games

They probably stick with Steam when running Windows, to the extent they do, because it's well known. I've never heard of the services you mentioned before.

i've been using steam for years. now and then i go back and see what games i've bought over the years and i can easily just reinstall them via steam and play them. No stupid codes, no download timeout, no BS.

Steam has some drawbacks, but one huge benefit is that whatever you buy on it is available on any of your computers until they go out of business.

...and is it even possible to run Counterstrike, Half Life, Portal, Team Fortress, or any of the other Steam games without Steam?
