We don't know exactly which, but one of them is Fox networks in the US, which Disney will not be allowed to buy as they own ABC. The general thrust of the deal, however, is that Murdoch wants to sell off entertainment assets to double down on news and sports.

I heard that Sky is part of the deal. That includes a lot of sport broadcast in Europe, they've had a chokehold on Premier League rights since it was created.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

It is official. Sky is part of the deal, and so is the part of Hulu that Fox owns. Disney buys all of 21st Century except Fox News, Fox networks, and some national sports channels.

I'm unclear on that too. I keep hearing they are getting the rights to TV shows but not the broadcast network. Are they getting everything but the broadcast network license or something? Because they already have one?
I'm also wondering if they are prohibited fro taking the sports due to the structure of some of the rights deals not being allowed to go to the same broadcaster maybe? They used to do that sometimes.

Yes, Disney buys Simpsons and they buy the cable channels. They can't buy the television station network, because then the FTC will stop the whole thing. Not sure if Fox plans to sell it to someone else. Fox could continue to run the stations using content that they have licensed from Disney or from other studios, or they might decide to sell them to someone else.

And I think those licenses are “free”. The parent company gets its money from selling national ads. They then leave blank spots during the commercial breaks which local stations fill up with their own ads.

That’s the radio model at least.

If Fox will no longer produce something like Simpsons, they will have to pay for it to the content producer - Disney in this case, if the deal closes. The split between Fox and its franchise owners I think works something like you said.

So, who's seen Black Panther? All the reviews/anecdotes say it's awesome. I plan to go this week.

I saw it. It's definitely one of the better Marvel movies, but it's probably getting over hyped.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

I did. I thought it was great. Sure it's getting overhyped but that doesn't bother me. It's definitely worth 12 bucks and 2 hours of my time. The audience even applauded at the end. Can't recall the last time that happened.

Haven't seen it yet but everyone I know who has says it's pretty incredible. I'm waiting for the initial crowds to die down so I can get a good seat when I finally check it out.

We saw it last week, liked a lot of it, but it also seemed a little overhyped. Perhaps I wasn't getting all the "secret" messages.

Not horrible or anything, but way less tight than the first.

Domino however, was ****in awesome.

I really liked DP2. Way more than BP. (see rant about representing black culture elsewhere.)

A couple of actual laugh out louds. Pretty relentless chuckling and the pop culture refs and 4th wall gags were actually often clever. X-Force simply superb, Domino was brilliant.

Shame about the girlfriend in a fridge. 8/10

What did you think compared to the original? I’m worried I’m tainted by how much I loved that. At the time, I considered it the best superhero movie ever.

I would say I liked it just as much as I liked the original.

Go see it.

I somehow managed not to see a single goddamn Avengers movie.

I’m actually kinda curious about Infinity Wat because I’m not suffering from Capeshit Teamup Fatigue.

I really enjoyed Infinity War. Principally because for the first time it gave us a properly engaging villain. This allowed a much greater depth to the jeopardy set up. Although there were plenty of fights it made it seem like it wasn't ALL about the hitting things, which was the great weakness of Age of Ulton's CGI smackfest.

The weaving in of so many characters, giving each one a real role and enough time on screen to contribute was a work of scripting art although Thor was the outstanding character in my opinion.

Subego, I don't think you'd enjoy infinity war without seeing some of the others. In many ways these are like chapters of a book or tv series. In a normal 2 hour movie you don't have character development or growth.

I enjoyed Infinity War too. Do I have nitpicks, with the plan, etc? Sure. But I liked the mixmatch teamups, the build, and the complexity of the villain.

That makes sense. Unfortunately, I only seem interested in the more peripheral movies.

Kinda want to see Dr. Strange, and the funny Thor.

all the thors were good popcorn flicks, but ragnarok was fun. Again, not sure it would be as fun if you hadn't at least seen other thors, and avengers 1. Some jokes are injokes.

I thought Thor two was a cold hard mess. Thor one was fun but uninspiring. Thor 3 is simply a brilliant and very funny film.

I finally saw Infinity War.

I really liked the movie, though. Extremely high expectations, and they met them.

It appears that a Black Widow movie is happening. They've hired a director, which would be odd if they're only exploring a possibility.
