I know taxes vary widely, but I am interested in knowing what prices people are paying.

I just ordered the Unibody MacBook Pro 2.4 Ghz (UniMacBook Pro) online for $1719 CAD plus taxes: current exchange rates have this at $1460 USD.

I know this is lower than the retail ($2149 CAD) - sorry, can't reveal my buying source.

So, what are you paying?

UK Higher Education Discount brought it to £988 (~$1730) + £14 iPod Nano (so by selling that altogether it comes to about £900)

Dang, I always have felt sorry for those in the UK: the prices are ridiculous, sometimes double what they are here in North America.

I went all out in planning to buy the MacBook Pro. I bought the 2.8 MBP with faster 320 GB hard drive.

$2849 MSRP
-$235 Apple Education Discount (University faculty)
+182.98 7% Sales Tax
-345.92 eBay + Live.com Cashback using Apple Gift Cards, paid $920.80 for $1266.72 worth
-76.51 5% Cashback for apple.com on balance paid by Discover Card ($1530.26) through their website

Comes out to $2374.55. The Live.com ebay Cashback is still good, so I'll soon be buying Apple Care off ebay for around $150 as well.
