Following reports
earlier this week that some iPad Pro units have a tendency to
become unresponsive after charging -- requiring a hard restart to overcome -- Apple has
issued a statement saying it is investigating the issue, and suggesting the force-restart procedure as a temporary workaround for the problem. Reports have indicated the issue happens on all models of iPad Pro running iOS 9.1, with the software now becoming the lead suspect as the root of the issue.
Some iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus owners have reported a similar issue with their phones running the 9.1 software version of iOS, leading to speculation that the problem is rooting in the software. In the case of iPhone 6s users, the units have been seen to spontaneously power down and become unresponsive after charging, also requiring a hard restart to recover. If this turns out to be the same problem as the iPad Pro, it would make for a much easier fix than if the problem was hardware-related.
A
new support document from Apple says that "Apple is aware of the issue and is investigating," and in the meantime reminds users of how to do a hard restart: "To get back to using your iPad Pro, force restart it by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo."
