So once again I'm trying to get iMovie to do stuff, when suddenly instead of showing me a preview of the Ken Burns effect, I see this:
(pics gone: it was showing part of my secondary display in the imovie window)
Plus any time I try to render a 'theme' it gets about 3/4 of the way through rendering and suddenly I hear the alert sound and the newly created clip disappers.

System: iBook G4 1.33/768MB, OS 10.4.5, QT 7.0.4, iMovie 6.0.1

Can anybody help me??

For anyone who's interested, it turns out it was a QT plugin causing problems, DivX, 3ivX, or FIip4Mac. I found the solution here
