This is a silly little problem - but it's starting to drive me nuts!
On my Mac Mini, whenever I open a Thunderbird email attachment, the temporary file is stored in my Downloads folder, out of the way. The same thing happens with Firefox temporary files - straight into Downloads.
On my Macbook, however, everything gets dumped onto the desktop. Before long, my desktop is cluttered with the things. I've searched and searched, but can't find any difference in my settings between the two machines.
I've even changed the Safari downloads folder, in case that reset where OSX dumped the temp files - but no luck.
Can anyone suggest a way to fix this? I appreciate it doesn't stop me from working - it's just very annoying!
