Does such a thing exist? I'm going to be taking my Powerbook to college next year and want to protect it from being stolen or accidently damaged, are there any companys out there that would insure my baby? Is it expensive? Any experiences?
Thanks,
Cory

There's renter's insurance. The terms and conditions on individual items would depend on the plan in question.

Yup Safeware does what you want additionally if you have home owners insurance see if you can get a rider put on.

I got renter's insurance when I got my PB. They'll cover me up to $5000 for a computer, and $20,000 total. My premium is also only like $135 a year.
I also looked at Safeware, but if you go through a complete insurance company, you can deal with somebody local. Plus, if you go through the same company that does your car insurance (if you have a car), you'll probably get a discount.

Just wondering how much of a deductible you would pay for this if there was any damage that needed to be fixed?

$100. I believe if I paid a $250 deductible though, my premiums would only be like $115 a year.
I go through Country Companies, btw, but I think they're limited to the Midwest.

Laptop insurance is great, but don't be too careless when you have it. You don't want to end up actually relying on it.
