Hi there,
I am looking for recommendations for a freeware/cheap shareware WYSIWYG HTML editor. In m past life, I used MS's Front Page or even <gasp> Word for my very simple, family website.
Now that I am free from the tyrannies of M$, I'm looking for something that will allow me to post pictures for my family and friends.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Mike

Have you given Nvu a try? It is still very much in development, but is useable, has an official MacOS X build, and is completely free (GPL style).

For posting pictures, a full blown HTML editor is not really needed. Give http://jalbum.net/ a look, it can generate great looking web albums - otherwise, maybe a .mac account with iPhoto may be what you're after.

Just iPhoto and a host will do, you don't need .Mac. Just save pics as a website to your harddrive and upload it to your server.

I use Create from Stone Design. It's sort of a poor man's Adobe Illustrator, GoLive and InDesign in one. It does drawing, print layouts and web layouts. I like it because it uses Apple's own Mac OS (Cocoa) technology as much as possible, has a really responsive developer with a forum for questions and help, and I got to help with a few icons and artwork. You can try it for a free spin for 30 days.

Plus, if you're a student, Stone will give you a discount on the whole Studio package. I have a friend who got a license a few years ago and he's been very happy.

You may want to look at Rapidweaver or SiteStudio. Both offer template based website creation with WYSIWYG editing and things like gallery creation. Both easy to use.

Really was it a substantial discount on the $299 it is now? I'd be quite interested in that. Hmmm. Will have to drop them a line.

It is useable but lacks a lot of features and the development is slooow...
