Peripherals manufacturer Razer has revealed an update to its
Mamba gaming mouse. The latest incarnation of the mouse is claimed to possess the "world's most precise gaming mouse sensor," with the 5G laser sensor capable of tracking at up to 16,000 dpi, can have its tracking set at 1dpi increments instead of the usual 50dpi jumps, and is capable of tracking the distance it is lifted off a mousing surface as precisely as 0.1mm, allowing for a more precise lift-off cut-off.
Aside from the sensor, the mouse's customization options extend further, with Click Force allowing for users to set the level of actuation force required for a button click to be recognized, varying from lighter presses to distinct clicks. The Mamba is capable of polling at 1KHz with a response time of 1ms, and able to track up to 210 inches per second or 50g of acceleration.
Featuring Chroma LED lighting, nine buttons, and a tilt-click scroll wheel, all customizable in Synapse, the Mamba will be available in two distinct versions. The standard edition weighs 125 grams (4.4 ounces), can be used wirelessly, and ships with a magnetic charging dock. The
Mamba Tournament Edition loses Click Force and the wireless capabilities, and weighs a slightly heavier 133 grams (4.7 ounces), though this includes the weight of the 7ft braided fiber cable.
Shipping in the third quarter, the new Razer Mamba will cost $150, while the Tournament Edition will sell for $90.
