I saw this story on Foxnews.com today. Sounds like a case of government by those with money for those with money.
Some how this insidious, private organization managed to get the city of New London, CT's power of eminent domain. The New London Development corporation has decided to use this power to seize people's property not for public use but to trasfer it to another private owner. People behind **** like this scare me more than any Al Qeda or Baath party member.

I thought the city/county/state could only take property for PUBLIC use.
IE:
Roads, freeways
Parks
Public works

Nope, this happened in my home town. Kicked people out of their houses so they cou=ld build a strip mall. The strip mall brings in more tax revenue.
