To be read as Oh Sexy I guess. At least it would leave room for confusion.
As for the poll I'm in the Cougar camp, with Lynx for 10.7 and Lion for 10.8 ... then it would be back to the drawing board.

Well roman numerals for 11 is 'XI'. So... when you say OSX it almost sounds like sex. So OSXI it wil be like sexi. hahaha. gosh that was dumb.
If apple took Microsofts approach and have multiple OS. you will get:
house cats for HOME
hunters for Business
mythical cats for Ultimate
ughh what a mess that would have been.
I for one think that when Apple change from cats they wil go to birds of prey or just big birds.
Eagle
Hawk
Falcon
Owl (bit dodgy... imagine OS Owl !? wtf)
I guess any suitable new species will be one that has enough cool names and has a dominant group in it.

btw (says he pointing derisively) "Hey look at that Microsoft! Can't deliver on time without a lot of unbelieveable excuses"

How about "Get some perspective and stop whining"? I think it has a catchy ring to it.

I voted for Cougar but hopefully they will start thinking about upgrading to OS XI
Doubt they would pick cougar as it would make most think of old women looking for a "bit on the side"

I love this post, with animal lovers and people with a wacky sense of fun. IMO, Lion is sedate, king of the hill and so whats with the complacency? Whe can't have a poster's 'Garfield', alas, we must be serious, and not many appreciate the powers of the lynx (my vote for OS 7). On the positive side, cougars are symbols of speed, they snap to pursuit in an eye-blick. Would we want a self satisfied Lion, or rather an edgy cougar?

Lynx sounds cool but reminds me of the unix text-based browser...they used to include it with OS X but no more... I wanted to use it for nostalgia!

No, please don't go to 11.0, eleven strikes me as low energy number. Being a Ten is the best, remember the movie? OSX is a Ten, IMO, there is nothing better. As others have remarked about the musicality of the name, OS 10 ends on the last syllable, given it decisiveness, 11 end on the next to last syllable, thus ending on a downbeat. Not good

I may have missed it, but would you think they are considering "Liger?"
It's a cross between a Tiger and a Lion. It's pretty much my favorite animal.

It would never be called 11 due to the amount of superstition relating to that number!

When will we actually know the new codename, any idea? i don't remember the lap of time bewteen the release of Tiger and the announce of Leopard...
I was a bit surprised to hear about Leopard after TIger... I was not expecting anything great just by the name... By opposition the switch from Panther to Tiger was kind of logical
I guess many people are waiting for Lion. Cougar would definitely sound weird to me... why not fennec then...?

If I recall, Leopard was first announced at WWDC '06, more than a year after Tiger came out.
