Well it does seem to be over the top on the grammar thing, Nazi isn't the term I would use though. Kinda inappropriate.

Sigh.

If you're judging the iPad on features alone, you're missing the entire point.

No, actually it isn't. It's a thread title so it deserves some attention. This is fourth grade grammar (at best) we're talking about here. How about you PM the mod(s) in charge and ask them to quickly fix it?

On topic, I agree with some of the more vocal iPad fans around here on this one. The iPad is much more about iPad OS, the apps, and the app store than about specs. This is a type of device that will be judged based on what you can do on it, not which CPU it has or how much VRAM it comes with. Note also that it's the same with the iPhone. No average customer wants to know which chip it uses or how much RAM it has. They just want to know if for example it will play Chinatown Wars well.

That said, the specs are actually quite nice from what we've seen so far. The screen is great, the CPU looks good. Every single hands-on report mentions how fast the device is, how seamless the GUI transitions work, etc. None of these reports indicate the device is underpowered or lacking significant hardware. Add to that the dock connector for expansion options and things look quite nice actually. The apps will ultimately decide how popular the device will be. Considering the iPhone, we have good reason to believe app development for the iPad will be strong. Re: hardware, the camera will be missed by some, but it's not going to be a big deal in the long wrong. The same probably for 3G voice. And if this actually IS the deal breaker in your case, you have a good chance iPad 2G will put a smile on your face.

The specs of the device look good, but I doubt this is good enough. But other than that bouncy ball demo, I haven't seen any real apps such as a mail client or a game. The important point is the interface.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

It’s not fixed. ‘Specs’ is plural, therefore the title ought to be ‘Should these have been the iPad specs?’

Don't let it bother you, steve. Who cares if people nitpick time grammatical issues?

When you've been a professional writer and editor, grammar matters. A lot. As does dumbing down the language by allowing mis-heard speech drive language usage. Please note that I did not say anything about the content of the thread, just that the grammar issue bothered me. Please continue having fun with the subject; I think it's just easier to read and take seriously when it's titled accurately and grammatically.
